Launch
Intention

Launch Intention began in 2014 with a casual birthday gift—a one-foot metal outline of a paper airplane. Someone asked, “Wouldn't it be cool to make a big one?” The next paper airplane was 50 feet long.

An intuitive desire guided the process. Meaning began to emerge—the power of intention, and the paper airplane as one of the first things we create as children and launch into the world. The project was named Launch Intention.

When the sculpture was complete, Griffin invited a group of students to experience it. Just before they arrived, he decided to make the conversation about intention. Each student wrote down a personal intention. They formed a circle and shared them one by one.

The purpose of the project became clear.

Twelve years later, Launch Intention has evolved into a nationwide public art and community platform, with installations across public spaces, municipalities, institutions, schools, and private commissions; community activations and youth programming; thousands of intentions shared; presentations at international art fairs; and has been featured on CBS Sunday Morning.

One small paper airplane. One question. Twelve years of following where it could lead.
